DARRYL STRAWBERRY COMING TO CORNERSTONE

Daryl will be at Cornerstone on April 30th to share his powerful testimony!   Daryl is a former Major League Baseball player who played in the 80's and 90's.  He was one of the most feared sluggers in the game, known for his powerful home runs and intimidating presence in the batters box. During his 17-year career, he helped lead the Mets and Yankees to four world series championships and consistently made the All Star Team.

He was also suspended three times for substance abuse which led to a downward spiral in his life. Addictions, abuse, divorce, cancer, jail time, and other issues are a few things that led him to lose it all in 2003.  However, God's plan was not to be undone.  Daryl is now an ordained minister who will share a powerful story of God's grace.  Join us on April 30th and invite a friend or family member!

Family Blitz Live Sunday, January 29th 5:30 P.M.

Invite your friends and family to FamBlitz Live! FamBlitz Live is a crowd participation show with the theme of inspiring families to think like a team.  With lights, fog, a unique sound track and loads of action, families will experience Biblical truths communicated through high octane games and challenges. Parents and kids will participate on stage and from their seats in this high energy event.  There is never a moment where the crowd is asked to simply sit and listen.

The primary message of FamBlitz Live is that there are no perfect families, even in the Bible.  God uses imperfect people and imperfect families to carry out His plan.  Throughout the games and challenges an inspiring message about Team Family is woven in.  FamBlitz Live is a high-energy way to remind families that working together can be fun.

We are expecting a large crowd.  Tickets will be handed out on Sunday mornings to assure you have a seat.

Operation Christmas Child

We are once again excited to be preparing for our Operation Christmas Child Packing Party on November 6th.  Each November thousands of churches prepare and collect shoeboxes filled with toys, school supplies, personal items, and other small gifts around the United States.  There have been over 120 million boxes delivered through the years.  We will be packing 1000 boxes doubling the number from last year at our packing party!

This year we will be collecting

1) Unused matchbox cars

2) Small stuffed animals

3) Flip flops for kids

4) Monetary donations to help cover the cost of shipping   Simply make your check payable to Cornerstone UMC and write “Operation Christmas Child” on the memo line.

Bring any of these items to the hallway across from the church office and look for the area marked Operation Christmas Child.   Thank you!  Rachel Perry and Missy Ankrom

Hopefest Brings Hope!

Hopefest took place on August 20th and was an incredible day. We helped distribute 500 pairs of shoes, hygiene items, t-shirts, school supplies, food, and God’s love. The smiles on the kids made all the effort worth it!   There were 200 folks who gave of their time to be a part of this great day. Thanks to all of you who participated, who offered leadership, who gave financially, and who shared the love of Christ.

The comments we received on social media and in person speak volumes.

“I'm so blessed to have been a part of this day! I love our community & it’s amazing to see all the

people that gave up there Saturday to volunteer & more importantly I love that so many kids got such nice stuff & new haircuts to start the new school year!!! God is good!!!”

“Thank you!!! We were not going to be able to get new school shoes until Friday after school started! Thanks for completing that perfect 'first day of school outfit'!!”

“Thank you for all you did today for the children and their parents or grandparents or who ever was able to take them thank you from the bottom of my heart”

“I feel this is the best back to school activity I have seen.  Kids need to know people care all the time. God is good, all the time"

“Such a blessing to all who was involved! Love Fest! Great turnout!”

“Thank you for this gift to our area children. The Lord and these kids are smiling.”

Cornerstone Welcomes Maurice Clarett August 28

We are excited to have Maurice Clarett speaking at both services on Sunday, August 28th.   Maurice's story has had it shares of high and lows that has brought him to be a much sought out speaker.

Maurice had a successful year at Ohio State in 2001 becoming the first freshman running back to start, being named Big Ten freshman of the year, and setting the freshman rushing and touchdown season record. He was also instrumental in helping Ohio State clinch the National Championship in 2002 with two pivotal plays, "the strip" and scoring the go ahead touchdown. This was Maurice's only season at Ohio State when he attempted to enter the NFL draft.

After much success on the field Maurice had trouble finding that same level of success off of the field and found himself serving a 7 1/2 year prison sentence. It was there that Maurice began to take that work ethic and discipline that brought him so much success as a football player and began to focus it on himself as a person.  It was this type of leadership that permitted him to be released 4 years early.

Upon being released Maurice has travelled the country allowing him to connect, educate, and empower people in their life and/or profession.   His ability to connect with his audience in a practical way leaves those who hear his words feeling inspired.

Join us on August 28th and invite a friend to hear his inspirational story.
